DeSoto ISD to Require Clear Backpacks for 2018-2019 School Year

Please be advised that parents will need to ensure that students have clear backpacks for the upcoming school year. This is the first in a number of measures to be implemented in the upcoming school year to increase school safety.

The change was approved as one of a series of recommendations to the Student Code of Conduct for the 2018-2019 school year at the May 29 DeSoto ISD Board Meeting.

Other changes included the revised consequence matrix for student dress code violations; the prohibition of cell phones out or turned on for students in grades K-8 without teacher approval; added note regarding no facial piercings for students; and a clarification on natural hair colors.
