The DeSoto ISD community of educators is dedicated to the success of each and every student. As you and your children make this journey in partnership with us, we want to provide information and resources to help them succeed. A major part of our mission is to help you support your children’s learning.
ELA/Reading courses in grades K-4 will focus on the development of the foundational skills needed for a student to be successful at the elementary level and beyond. We focus on reading, writing, oral and written conventions, listening and speaking. Courses in grades 5-12 focus on continuing the development of skills taught at the elementary level, and preparing students for college and careers.
The DeSoto ISD curriculum teams work together, using the College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS) and English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS) to develop meaningful curricula.

DeSoto ISD to Require Clear Backpacks for 2018-2019 School Year
Please be advised that parents will need to ensure that students have clear backpacks for the upcoming school year. This is the first in a number of measures to be implemented in the upcoming school year to increase school safety.
The change was approved as one of a series of recommendations to the Student Code of Conduct for the 2018-2019 school year at the May 29 DeSoto ISD Board Meeting.
