Hello My Name Is...

Mrs. Alisha Garrett

Hello 7th Grade Parents and students,

It is my pleasure to introduce myself to you, I am Mrs. Alisha Garrett. I am married with two beautiful children. I am excited to get to know you the parents as well as my students. I am originally from the great state of Louisiana. I graduated from Texas A&M University-Commerce. I have been training and teaching grant funded programs in middle and high school for the last 14 years. No stranger to the classroom, I look forward to working and developing a love for writing and English in all the students who set foot through my door. In today’s ever changing society, education is imperative. Why do I want to teach? It is simple, I am passionate about education. It is my due diligence to offer my knowledge to the next generation. Teaching is learning and in the same breath shall I dare say learning is teaching, so in a class room setting it is both the teacher and student who will gain knowledge. Teaching is an opportunity to cultivate young minds in to grand thinkers, by enhancing their intellect. I embrace teaching as an opportunity to inspire and empower, as well as take pleasure in challenging students to think outside of their own ideas, norms and perceptions of themselves and the world around them. I want to be able to produce their own ideology and beliefs, and not be blind followers of the concepts of others.
