Assistant Principal

Mr. Anderson has been in education for 19 years, teaching all subjects from grades 2nd thru 6th, as well as Special Education, and Physical Education. He began his teaching career in 1998, at the distinguished, Dr. Martin Luther King Elementary School for Science and Technology in New Orleans, Louisiana.  As a lifelong resident of New Orleans, Mr. Anderson was affected by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, causing him to relocate to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was instrumental in the reopening of Mayfair Elementary, a make shift school that aided in educating displaced students as a result of the storm. He later moved to Texas.  He taught at both Cockrell Hill and The Meadows Elementary Schools. He received Teacher of the Year recognition in 2009 while working at The Meadows.  Mr. Anderson is now the Assistant Principal of DeSoto West Middle School.  Mr. Anderson received his Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Southern University at New Orleans, and a Master’s Degree in Education Administration and Leadership from the University of New Orleans.  He is a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.  Mr. Anderson strongly believes that all students can learn, and has dedicated his life to help students achieve overall greatness.
