Chambers, Takyra

GREETINGS!!!

My name is...

Mrs. Takyra M. Chambers, M.Ed.

I am THE one and only Takyra Chambers.  I am a native of Fort Worth, Texas--born and raised.  I am 2002 graduate of Jarvis Christian Collegea premier HBCU in the piney woods of East Texas.    I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, minoring in Speech Communications.  From there, I earned a Masters of Education in Student Affairs and Higher Education in 2008 from Texas A&M University--Commerce.

ChambersAugust

The profession of education called me in 2002 via the Wilmer-Hutchins ISD, and although I attempted to run from it after year one, I was reeled back in in 2004 via THE DeSoto ISD.  I have since served in DeSoto ISD teaching 6th-8th English and Reading, 8th PreAP English, and Communication Applications (Speech).  I taught in the West iSTEAM Magnet Academy for two magnificent years.  Currently, I proudly serve as the English/Reading facilitator in the West International Male Leadership Academy.  Incorporating grammar/conventions and writing skills is an academic goal because better readers become better writers.   In addition to my role as the English facilitator, I am the Parent Communicator of the team.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending quality time with my family.  Being a new mommy has been the most fulfilling role I have ever boldly stepped into, and I thank the Creator daily for this opportunity.  In addition to quality family time, I enjoy writing/reading various textswatching televisioncreating collages/scrap booking, and hanging and laughing with family and my circle of friends.
