Creating a Culture of Health
The Healthy Zone School Recognition Program® was created as a joint collaboration between
´╗┐The Cooper Institute & United Way of Metropolitan Dallas in 2011, which uses evidence-based knowledge and best practices to assist schools in promoting healthy behaviors.
Learn Hands-Only CPR - #CPRsaveslives
February is American Heart Month
According to the American Heart Association, 70% of cardiac arrests occur at home and 350,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur in the US annually. In support of national heart month, learn lifesaving techniques such as CPR. This short video highlights some important practices to use when administering CPR.
Healthy Children Today, Better Workforce Tomorrow!
Dallas may not have won the bid for Amazon HQ2, but business and community leaders are already learning and looking ahead to prepare North Texas for the next opportunity.
Until then, we must ensure that we are building the workforce of the future - one that is highly skilled and productive. The solution lies with the health and wellness of our children. The Cooper Institute and Dallas ISD are meeting that challenge on all fronts by Building Dallas Together through fitness.
Increase your students’ physical activity
Watch a recording of our Activity Assessments Webinar which takes you through ActivityGram, ActivityGram Lite, and ActivityLog.
All three assessments are a great way to track your students’ activity levels, both inside and outside of the classroom!
Students can monitor daily activity patterns through a
´╗┐3-day recall of activity type and active time.
Students can reflect on the type and level of physical activity before, during and after school through a series of questions.
Students can participate in fun challenges and log their daily steps, average heart rate, and minutes of activity.

´╗┐Community Impact Report
Our important work would not be possible without your help and thanks to generous philanthropic support from our community.
Together, we will move the physical activity and healthy behavior pendulum to a place where all Americans are getting the exercise they need for life-long health.
